Discover the Difference
Missing teeth can interfere with your everyday life, making it difficult to eat, speak, and smile confidently. The empty spaces can also lead to dental complications such as tooth decay, bone loss, shifting in existing teeth, bite problems, potential jaw joint issues, and more.
Replacing Your Teeth- Restoring Your Smile
If you are missing teeth, full or partial dentures offer a great solution. Under the care of our highly skilled Newbury Dental Group Westlake Village denture specialists, our custom dentures provide you with natural-looking, natural-feeling dentures that promote better dental health and bring back the beautiful smile.
What Are Dentures?
Dentures are removable dental prosthetics devices that are a practical solution to replace teeth that have been lost due to damage, disease, or injury. Dentures come in three types of prosthetic devices: partial dentures, complete denture, and overdenture. Each of the types restore normal tooth functionality and cosmetically.
The Process: What to Expect
The denture process begins with a free initial consultation. One of our highly skilled dentists, Dr. Peyman Saghizadeh or Dr. Sam Saghizadeh, will make a recommendation on whether partial or full dentures are best for you based upon your individual situation. Our clinical team will provide you with a comprehensive dental plan that clearly lines out the course of action as well as simple pricing and payment options.
• On your first visit, the dentist will examine your existing teeth and mouth for cavities and periodontal disease. Non-restorable teeth will be extracted. Molds of your teeth will be made after the extraction site has healed. If you don’t require extraction, the molds can be made immediately which will eliminate the wait time.
• On your second appointment, bite registration takes place if you had teeth extracted on the first visit. In addition, the color, size, and shape of your dentures will be selected.
• The third visit will entail teeth tray-in-wax to ensure your teeth line up precisely. You will be given your last opportunity to make changes.
• On your final visit, your dentures will be delivered. The dentist will go over long-term maintenance and after-care.

Exploring Dental Solutions
Your suggested dental treatment plan may include one or more of the following dental solutions:
Complete Dentures: If it is determined that you are a good candidate for dentures, full dentures may be recommended if all of the teeth in both your upper and lower arches require replacement. You can expect your gums to be healed and ready in approximately 8 to 12 weeks after your teeth have been removed. Because your bones and gums shrink following an extraction, it is recommended that you wait at least 12 weeks before the denture fitting process. Many patients prefer not to wait and opt for Immediate Dentures instead. Immediate Dentures, also known as Temporary dentures, don’t require a wait time but do require adjustments after your teeth and gums have settled into their permanent position.
Partial Dentures: Partial dentures in Westlake Village support restoration, leaving as many of your natural teeth as possible. Partial dentures are removable dentures that replace one or more of your teeth. They are typically taken out at night and for cleaning. Partial dentures not only serve as cosmetic devices, they also aid in speaking and chewing and can preserve the placement of your remaining teeth to keep them from shifting within your mouth over time.
Temporary Dentures: Temporary dentures, also called “immediate dentures”, are a viable option for those who are awaiting permanent complete or partial dentures. They can be full or partial dentures, depending on how many teeth you have lost. Temporary dentures are fitted into your mouth immediately after your natural teeth are removed to prevent a time lapse between teeth extractions and permanent full dentures.
